A head-on collision killed two drivers and an infant boy before dawn Sunday in Jackson County, according to Indiana State Police.

A wrong-way driver on I-65 near Seymour collided head-on with a vehicle being driven by a woman and carrying her one-year-old son, state police said in a statement.

Both drivers suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office, the statement said. The infant sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at a children’s hospital in Louisville.

State police said investigators believe the driver going the wrong way—Theosco Middlebrooks, 51, of Louisville—had been drinking. The two in the other car were named as Alyssa Osborn, 31, and her son Wayne, of Scottsburg.

The statement said toxicology results were pending as of Sunday evening, and the investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.
