Police arrested a Brooklyn man Thursday for the 2020 murder of an Indiana University student.

26-year-old William Freeman was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon for shooting and killing 20-year-old Ethan Williams.

Williams is from Indianapolis and was a sophomore at IU Bloomington at the time of his death.

He was outside an Airbnb rental property in Brooklyn when he was shot in the early morning of October 24, 2020. At the time, police said the cause was either a stray bullet or a case of mistaken identity.

According to a Nov. 2 Indiana Daily Student article, Williams’s father, Jason Williams, told the  New York Post that his son was on a trip with friends to film a skateboarding video in New York, a place he had dreamed of visiting since childhood.
