New sections of I-69 are scheduled to be complete by the end of the year, officially marking S.R. 37 as I-69 south of S.R. 144 in Johnson County. The change will increase the speed limit in that stretch from Martinsville to 70 mph.

INDOT officials say new pavement and full intersection access further north near County Line Road opened last week. Crews are expected to open a new section of northbound pavement between Southport Road and Edgewood Avenue by the holidays.

Banta Road near the Morgan County line was permanently closed at S.R. 37 last week. The first traffic signal north of Evansville is now at Smith Valley Road.

INDOT’s I-69 Finish Line is the sixth and final section of I-69 connection between Evansville and Indianapolis and is on track to be finished in late 2024.
