In September 2022, the federal government approved funding for INDOT’s statewide electric vehicle charging network under the NEVI program. Under this program, the state will receive around $100 million to build this network along Indiana interstates and highways.

Statewide coalition outlines equity and accessibility concerns with EV infrastructure plan

A statewide coalition is calling on the Indiana Department of Transportation to address equity and accessibility concerns with a plan to incentivize EV chargers in Indiana.

When it determines a vehicle is traveling 11 miles per hour or more above the speed limit, it’ll take a picture of the rear license plate. Under Indiana law, the pictures can only be used to enforce traffic offenses under the pilot, can’t be publicly disclosed and must be destroyed within two years.

It’ll target speeding of 11 miles per hour over the speed limit and greater.
