Roundabout at Winslow, Rogers, High to close for 45 days

Traffic will be rerouted while the roundabout is closed. (City of Bloomington)
Traffic will be rerouted while the roundabout is closed. (City of Bloomington)

The roundabout at the intersection of Winslow Road, Rogers Road, and High Street will be closed from May 27 to July 14 for construction meant to improve safety for drivers and pedestrians.

The closure will impact local traffic and Bloomington Transit Route 5. Drivers will be rerouted to Henderson Street, Hillside Drive, and Sare Road during construction. Bloomington Transit will provide updates on the bus route.

The roundabout is being upgraded to meet modern design standards, with new features like a truck apron and a wider median island.

The project will also resurface Winslow and Rogers roads, upgrade sidewalks and crosswalks for better accessibility and introduce a rain garden near Xavier Court to improve drainage and reduce runoff.

The Indiana Department of Transportation will fund half of the more than one-point-three-million-dollar project through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program.

Work on Winslow and Rogers roads began earlier this year.

Rogers Family Park in the area will remain open, although the parking lot will be closed. Pedestrian routes to the park will still be open.
