New emergency vet clinic coming to Bloomington in spring 2023

VetCheck Pet Urgent Care Center plans to open a center in Bloomington to help fill a coverage gap the area has had for some time.

VetCheck currently has locations in Carmel and Fishers, Ind. VetCheck’s director of HR Taylor Fite said that the company decided to open a clinic in Bloomington after noticing the distance some clients were driving for pet care.

“Our original location is in Fishers. And we started seeing a huge number of patients from Bloomington, Nashville, Brown County, this large population of people having to migrate north and make these long drives to just get their pets care that they need,” she said. “And we really started to see this pattern and we kind of sat down and we were like, you know, what can we do to help the Bloomington community?”

Construction on the new center is underway. Fite said that settling on a prime location for the clinic was a challenge. VetCheck was not prepared to reveal the exact location at the time of this story.

“Finding a centralized location that not only served Bloomington, but again, the surrounding communities was really important to us,” she said.

Fite said that, even with no formal announcement being made yet on the new clinic, they’ve already received positive feedback.

“It's just been huge, I think, far more than any of us ever thought, the outpouring of love and anticipation, and just excitement about us being there has been awesome,” she said. “Word of mouth just travels so quickly, because of the huge need for pet care there.”

The clinic will serve small animals such as cats and dogs for both urgent care and wellness visits. Dr. Megan Brunn will be the medical director.
