A cement clinker semi lays on its side after striking a car Wednesday after on SR 37 in Judah.

A Bedford woman died Wednesday afternoon when her car was struck by a semi at the intersection of SR 37 and Old SR 37 in Judah.

According to a release from the Lawrence County Sheriff, Katrena Cunningham, 64, was attempting to turn from old 37 onto south SR 37 when her car was struck by a loaded concrete clinker semi driven by Randall Schuyler.

Officials said Schuyler ran a red light and collided with Cunningham’s car, forcing it off the road. The semi overturned, partially in the median.

Because of the foggy weather, care flight couldn’t respond to the crash. Both Cunningham and Schuyler were taken to IU health Bloomington hospital, where Cunningham died from her injuries. The semi driver’s condition has not been made available. Police say toxicology results are pending.

The southbound lane of SR 37 was closed for several hours following the crash.
