Another candidate with a background in local governance is running for a seat on Bloomington City Council.

Lois Sabo-Skelton, former president of the Monroe County Community School Corporation Board of Trustees, has filed paperwork for one of the council’s three at-large seats. She is running as a Democrat.

Sabo-Skelton is running on issues including poverty, homelessness, food shortages, personal safety and health. She said diversity, equity and inclusion are the mainstay principles to be considered in addressing those issues.

"The job of a city council member is to listen to the ideas of the community, and then work to solve the issues that confront our city and its future — together," Sabo-Skelton said.

On her website, Sabo-Skelton describes herself as “an advocate for women, children, and arts in education.”

Sabo-Skelton served on the school board for more than a decade and stepped down in late 2019.
