A popular Bloomington downtown festival is postponed again. Taste of Bloomington volunteer co-chair Talisha Coppock says increasing supply costs, labor shortages, and reduced space are to blame.
“As the businesses have moved in, and buildings have been built, and parking lots have been reconfigured. It just gets really tight.”
Coppock says the 40-year model is not sustainable and hopes a refreshed version will return soon.
“I think our ticket price would have to be higher, the food prices would be higher.”
She says the festival takes 500 volunteers to run and at its peak, had 50 participating restaurants.
“We want it to be a good quality event that people have fond memories of, and that we can create a quality experience.”
