Bloomington resident Maggie June Gates was one of over 20 people charged with domestic terrorism in Atlanta, Georgia, over the weekend.

According to a press release from the Atlanta Police Department, the group used the cover of a peaceful protest of the proposed Atlanta Public Safety Training Center to conduct a coordinated attack on construction equipment and police officers.

Video of the incident showed people dressed in black throwing rocks, bricks, fireworks, and Molotov cocktails at officers.

Nearly everyone arrested was from locations around the country, including the 25-year-old Bloomington resident.

The Atlanta Police Department asked that this week’s protests remain peaceful.
