NCAA tourney expected to bring in more than 13,000 attendees, increase local revenues

The first and second round of the NCAA tournament for women’s basketball are hosted by Indiana University on March 16, 18 and 20.

The games are expected to bring thousands into Bloomington for the weekend, according to predictions from Visit Bloomington.

The tourist organization says about 1,000 total lodging room nights will be sold in the market because of the games. It estimates the economic impact from IU hosting the first round will be between $1.5 million and $2 million.

IU is expecting more than 13,000 attendees for the IU women’s game on Saturday morning.
