City pools limit hours and swim season

The Mills Pool and Bryan Park Pool are closing or limiting hours to line up with the start of the Monroe County school year Aug. 2.

Most pass holders are in the K-12 age range, and the pools anticipate fewer guests with the start of the school year. The pools are adjusting their hours to reflect this shift.

The Mills Pool will close July 30 because many of the staff are in high school and will not be able to work during the school year. Julie Ramey, community relations manager for Bloomington Parks and Recreation, said that when the Mills Pool closes, the remaining staff will move to the Bryan Park Pool.

Residents who visit the Mills Pool will be able to use passes at the Bryan Park Pool until the end of the season. The Bryan Park Pool will change its hours of operation to 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays starting Aug. 5. The pool will close after Labor Day.

Residents looking for an alternative to the city pools after Labor Day will be able to visit the Switchyard Plaza Spray Pad on Friday, Saturday and Sunday through the end of September.

The IU Outdoor Pool is open through Labor Day.
