Regional housing partnership, Heading Home, meets for progress report

Community leaders met for Heading Home's annual update.
Community leaders met for Heading Home's annual update.

Regional leaders of housing organizations and community members met Tuesday for an update from Heading Home on its progress.

Heading Home, which started in 2021, and is a Monroe-County based partnership between housing organizations, city, and county government to eliminate barriers to housing.

Tatiana Wheeler is Heading Home’s assistant director of housing security. She said Heading Home is collecting client-level data on homelessness provided by shelters and service providers in the region, and plans to publish a public dashboard soon. It is sorting out some discrepancies in how organizations collect and report information.

“So we're working through some ways that we can integrate a couple of different data systems into one collective space to make sure that the data that we're presenting is accurate, up to date, and in real time."

The effort is part of Built for Zero, a national organization working to end homelessness. It advises its community networks to create a list of every person in the community experiencing homelessness.
