Monroe County will have nine cooling stations open for the heat advisory Thursday and Friday. They will be at fire stations and will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The stations may be open additional days, depending on weather conditions.

The heat index is expected to hit 105 Friday. Cooling stations were used after the June 30 storms for those who had lost power.

The Clear Creek and Van Buren stations in Bloomington will allow pets to enter, but they must be in a kennel or carrier. Additionally, the Southeast YMCA will allow residents to enter the facility to cool off during business hours.
