The Bloomington Board of Public Works is scheduled to vote this evening on a lane and sidewalk closure request regarding the Bloomington Gateway Project at Miller Showers Park.

The city announced plans earlier to build a 40-foot monolith customizable with LED lights this fall in the park.

The parks board will address a request by Reed and Sons for the closures to construct the monolith at their regular meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

The million-dollar project is being funded with money from a bicentennial bond specifically approved for this project in 2018. It includes planting native trees, refurbishing the curb and redoing the pedestrian crosswalk.
