Former IU student found guilty of Jan. 6 charges

Antony Vo, former IU student convicted of storming the Capitol with his mother, was sentenced April 10 to nine months in prison.
Antony Vo, former IU student convicted of storming the Capitol with his mother, was sentenced April 10 to nine months in prison.

Former IU student Antony Vo was found guilty of trespassing during the 2020 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol building. Vo was arrested on July 21, 2021.

Vo was found guilty on four charges, including entering a restricted building, disorderly and violent conduct in a restricted building, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. This comes after a four-day trial.

Vo’s defense was that he was let into the Capitol. Vo said in a Tweet that “the police opened the f***ing gates” for them. In interviews, officers expressed that they were outnumbered.

Vo’s sentencing is set for Dec. 18.
