Hamilton vetoes council vote to reinstall 7-Line stop signs

Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton has vetoed the City Council’s approval of re-installing stop signs along the 7-Line bicycle lane.

The council approved the measure by a 5-4 vote earlier this month.

Originally, members were asked to approve re-installing stop signs only at Seventh and Dunn streets parallel to the east-to-west protected bike lane.

Council member Dave Rollo sponsored an amendment to add Seventh at Dunn, Lincoln, Morton and Washington streets to consideration.

The stop signs were removed during installation of the 7-Line in 2021.

Hamilton says he has concerns about safety and the process by which the measure passed.
