Indiana ranked No. 9 in preseason AP poll

The Indiana women’s basketball team is ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press’ preseason poll released Tuesday.

It’s the 75 th straight AP top 25 poll the Hoosiers have been ranked in.

Indiana was ranked as high as No. 2 last season after going 28-4, winning their first Big Ten regular season title in 40 years and earning a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

IU returns for of five starters from last season, including first team All-American Mackenzie Holmes and All-Big Ten selections Chloe Moore-McNeil, Sydney Parrish and Yarden Garzon.

Indiana is one of five Big Ten teams in the top 25. Iowa was picked third, Ohio State seventh, Maryland 14 th and Illinois 23 rd.

The women will be taking part in Hoosier Hysteria Friday night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

They open the season on Nov. 9 at home against Eastern Illinois.
