Monroe County Financial Director Brianne Gregory will run for auditor in 2024.
Gregory serves under sitting auditor Catherine Smith, who has not announced whether she will seek reelection.
Smith endorsed Gregory in a written statement provided by Gregory. In it, she calls Gregory a precise, intuitive and dedicated public servant.

“Bri’s ability to accurately read and interpret the volumes of accounting codes prescribed by the Indiana State Board of Accounts is only exceeded by her ability to apply these codes to the extremely complicated financial system that the state requires counties to manage,” Smith wrote.
Gregory has also received endorsements from Monroe County Commissioner Julie Thomas and Monroe County Council President Kate Wiltz.
As financial director, Gregory oversees county finances, including the bi-annual distribution of tax revenues to county departments, the City of Bloomington, the Town of Ellettsville and local townships.

She also prepares the county’s annual financial report and GAAP report.
Gregory was the county’s first internal auditor. In that role, she drafted and implemented a county risk management policy.
Gregory also volunteers in the community through the Girl Scouts and the Jr. Cutters soccer club.
