Bloomington Mayor-elect Kerry Thomson has named additional appointments for her incoming administration.

The new appointments follow an initial round of appointments announced at the beginning of December.

They include:

  • Chief of Staff: Josefa Madrigal
  • City Attorney: Larry Allen
  • Communications Director (Interim): Angela Van Rooy
  • Housing & Neighborhood Development Director: Anna Killion Hanson
  • Planning & Transportation Director: Jacqueline Scanlan
  • Public Engagement Director (Interim): Crystal Ritter

Allen’s appointment to city attorney is unique because he previously held the title under Mayor John Hamilton. He took over as Hamilton’s deputy mayor in July after Mary Catherine Carmichael resigned from the position.

Allen is also the former campaign treasurer for Hamilton and for Don Griffin, who served as deputy mayor before Carmichael. Griffin and outgoing city council member Susan Sandberg unsuccessfully ran for mayor this year against Thomson.

All of Thomson’s latest appointments were selected internally.

Thomson will take office on Jan. 1, 2024.
