One fatality confirmed in Ind. 37 and Dillman Road hit-and-run

A Bloomington man has been with charged with leaving the scene of accident resulting in death following a hit-and-run incident this morning on Ind. 37 south of Bloomington. 

Monroe County Sheriff’s office said it received a call at about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday regarding a woman walking south in the northbound lane of Ind. 37 near the Dillman Road intersection.  

According to a press release, the office received several calls about three minutes reporting the individual had been hit, but no one reported seeing the accident. When deputies and EMT personnel arrived, they found a female lying in the road deceased. 

A crash reconstructionist and deputies were sent to the scene. The investigation led them to 38-year-old Dustin Easton, who was taken to the hospital for a blood draw before being booked into the Monroe County Jail on a felony charge. 

The identification of the deceased woman is pending notification of next of kin.
