MCCSC school board passes resolution to examine options for redistricting

The Monroe County Community School board will study the populations in its school zones to i mplement new attendance borders in the 2025-2026 school year.

The decision comes in the same week the board plans to collect public comment on a proposed merger between Templeton and Childs elementaries.

As part of the resolution, the board is looking for experts on demography, population, and districting to help create standards for revising current elementary borders.

The board plans to consider in June how to balance socioeconomic status in its schools. A comprehensive redistricting for the district hasn’t happened since 1997.
