Around 1,800 addresses, including two schools, were without water this morning after a water main break.

The city said the break happened near Griffy Lake and left residents without water from 6-8 a.m. All but about 20 customers now have water.

A boil water advisory remains in effect through Wednesday at 5 p.m. Until then, those impacted by the issues are urged to boil all water used for drinking, food consumption, and oral hygiene. Residents should allow water to boil for at least 5 minutes before it is considered safe for consumption.

As a result of the issue, Bloomington North High School and Marlin Elementary School canceled in-person classes Tuesday. An alert for the e-learning day was sent out around  9 a.m., when many students were already on the way to school.

All other MCCSC schools were on their normal schedules.

Customers who have signed up for the Monroe County Alert will be alerted directly when the problem is resolved.
