The Indiana Graduate Workers Coalition is endorsing a call to strike this week.
The group announced the endorsement after a general membership meeting Sunday. Its more than 1,000 members will now vote to approve a proposed three-day strike starting Wednesday.

Wednesday is also IU Day, an annual university fundraising event.
In a statement, the union noted that the strike was set to start a day after the Bloomington Faculty Council holds a vote of “no confidence” in university leadership.
IU faculty groups have previously signaled support for the union.

But IU leaders refuse to recognize the union or negotiate with it. Instead, they say the graduate school is voluntarily addressing some of the group's core demands.
The union last went on strike in 2022.
