An IU alumnus will not face additional legal action following his arrest in Dunn Meadow on eclipse day.
An Indianapolis man who was arrested at IU Bloomington was dismissed by Monroe County prosecutors May 14, according to court records.
Thomas Sweeney was arrested for disorderly conduct in Dunn Meadow. He was part of a pro-Palestinian demonstration that was chanting while people gathered to watch the total solar eclipse on April 8.
Sweeney was charged with disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. IUPD detained three other protesters at the Cox Arboretum, two students and one alumnus according to IUPD.
Dunn Meadow is a designated assembly ground. However, IU spokesperson Mark Bode said previously the demonstration did not comply with university policies since it disrupted a scheduled event on university property.
