Black historic marker, Gaza-protest charges, new jail site | Indiana Newsdesk

Bloomington will celebrate Juneteenth with the installation of a historical marker noting an Underground Railroad stop in Switchyard Park. There’s plans for four more markers denoting historic Black neighborhoods in the city.

Monroe County prosecutors have dropped charges against 55 protesters arrested in late April’s pro-Gaza demonstrations in Dunn Meadow.

And, Monroe County officials took feedback from Ellettsville residents about a proposal to put a new jail between their town and Bloomington.
