The Bloomington Arts Commission plans to install an art piece in the commons of the new Hopewell neighborhood, and it wants feedback from the community.

There are four proposed installations. Anyone can view them and give feedback on the city’s arts and culture page starting Monday. The vote will close July 5.

The Hopewell neighborhood will be constructed at the old Bloomington hospital site along the B-Line trail. It’s being developed as a “place of compassion, good health, and perpetual optimism,” according to its website.

The commission selected the works from an artist callout in March. After that, a committee chose the finalists. The committee included members of the Bloomington Arts Commission, City of Bloomington staff and community stakeholders.

The finalists were chosen based on artistic quality, their reflection of the spirit of Hopewell, and the feasibility of their installation.

The project’s budget is $100,000. The project is funded by the 1% for the Arts Ordinance, which allows some city building projects to set aside at least 1 percent of construction funds for public art.

The city will install the selected piece sometime this fall.

CORRECTION: The budget for the project is $100,000, not $10,000 as previously written.
