Officers identify body recovered from lake in Orange County

Conservation officers recovered a body around 8:13 p.m. Sunday from Patoka Lake in Orange County.

The swimmer disappeared under the surface of the water near the Painter Creek boat ramp around 6 p.m. Sunday.

The body was identified as 24-year-old Xavier Richardson from Indianapolis, according to an officer update Tuesday. The autopsy results are pending.

Department of Natural Resources law enforcement divers recovered the body using sonar. The Orange County Sheriff and Fire District 1 assisted, as well as U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, IU Health Paoli and Indiana State Police.
