The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office said a fatal crash Monday may have been due to the driver having a medical emergency.

Deputies and emergency personnel arrived at a lake on the 8000 block of West Old Nashville Road at 3:43 p.m. Monday.

According to a witness, the truck hit a mailbox, drove through a carport, fell off a deck, hit a fence, and continued down a hill before stopping partially in the water.

Residents and emergency responders assisted the driver but they were pronounced dead on scene.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office said it will share the identity of the driver later with further updates in the investigation.
