Indiana University is a step closer to finding a new leader for the Bloomington campus.
In June, the Board of Trustees agreed to select a chancellor for the Bloomington campus, ideally someone familiar with the campus. The chancellor will report to President Pamela Whitten and oversee current campus leader, Provost Rahul Shrivastav.

In an email Tuesday, Whitten announced the leaders of the chancellor search.
Bloomington Faculty Council President Danielle DeSawal and Dean of Graduate Education David Daleke will co-chair the search committee. The committee will include 16 students, staff and faculty, IU announced Tuesday.
“The chancellor will assume authority over all campus operations such as budget, student affairs, and enrollment,” Whitten said. “The chancellor will focus on enhancing faculty participation in decision-making, building stronger community relations, and promoting a deep understanding of our campus's needs and aspirations.”
The search process will include listening sessions, and Whitten said updates will be provided in the coming weeks.
Isaacson, Miller — an executive search firm that’s selected other IU leaders such as Indianapolis Chancellor Latha Ramchand — will support the committee. The firm is accepting applications, though it has not yet added new information to the posting.
At the June trustees meeting, trustees’ chair Quinn Buckner said a chancellor will allow Whitten to take a step back from Bloomington.
