The National Hurricane Center predicts Tropical storm Helene will make landfall in Florida Thursday.

Indiana’s FEMA Search and Rescue team will travel to Florida to assist efforts with tropical storm Helene, the team announced on social media Tuesday morning.

The tropical storm formed over the Caribbean Sea Tuesday morning, and models predict it will make landfall along the Florida panhandle and west coast Thursday night.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 41 counties as the National Hurricane Center is warning of flash flooding along the state’s coastline.

The Indiana team is one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Task Forces in the nation. The 80-person team includes firefighters, officers, medical professionals and civilians.
