Public records show the court is granting an extension until October 30th to file the court reporter’s transcript in Bloomington's annexation appeal.
The court ruled against the city in August, blocking the attempted annexation of Areas 1A and 1B in southwest Monroe County.
Mayor Kerry Thomson said annexation funding in next year’s budget will continue the appeals process.
“We've had several folks come to us wanting to do voluntary annexation, and if they're not in 1A or 1B, we are talking to them and starting the process of what is needed to put together voluntary annexation,” Thomson said.

She says the city is also eager to partner with the county on voluntary annexation to get city water and sewer to a proposed jail site off Vernal Pike. County commissioners are debating that location and the North Park site off State Road 46.
The city is also appealing another annexation ruling over the constitutionality of the state’s 2019 law on the validity of remonstrance waivers.
Thomson says decisions on either appeal most likely won’t come until spring.
