The Indiana State Police announced an abducted 11-year-old child from Iowa was located safe in Indianapolis early Monday Morning.

The Iowa City Police Department contacted the ISP around 2 a.m. to share information about the abduction that happened Sunday. They believed the suspect was a non-custodial parent taking the child to the East Coast, likely through Indiana.

State police started searching the interstates and located the suspect’s vehicle at a gas station on Lafayette Road off I-65. The child was in the vehicle with two adults.

36-year-old Ronique Pittman from Goldsboro, North Carolina was arrested on an Iowa arrest warrant for child abduction by a non-custodial parent. The child was turned over to the Department of Child Services for reunification with the custodial parent.

Iowa City Police Department is the lead agency for this case.
