A Spencer County man is in critical condition following a shooting at a bar in Mariah Hill last Saturday.

Area police responded to The Chateau on E State Rd 62 just before 3:30 am, after a verbal argument ended with gunfire and a male being seriously injured.

After a preliminary investigation, Indiana State Police said Paris Keaton, age 28 from Dale, Indiana, and three men had an argument inside the bar.

Keaton and Rafael Barboza, age 32 from Dale, then went outside. A physical confrontation began and Barboza was shot. ISP said Keaton walked back inside the bar and pointed the firearm at two additional males who were located inside. All parties stayed at the scene until officers arrived.

Barboza was transported to Owensboro Regional Health Hospital in Kentucky to be treated for gunshot wounds. Keaton is being held on bond in the Spencer County Jail.

He's being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (level 3 felony), pointing a firearm (level 6 felony), criminal recklessness (level 6 felony), and driving while suspended (class A misdemeanor).

Keaton's initial hearing is Nov. 27.
