Indiana University’s football team will play at Notre Dame in the first round of the College Football Playoff at 8 p.m. on Dec. 20.

The selection committee ranked IU eighth in the inaugural 12-team field, announced Sunday. But the betting markets have the Hoosiers as the second-longest shot shot to win the national championship ahead of only Boise State.

IU is an early 7.5-point underdog to Notre Dame at FanDuel and hasn’t won a postseason game since 1991.

IU has an 11-1 record but has faced questions about the strength of its schedule.

Notre Dame, ranked fifth by the committee, is also 11-1. The Irish had a shocking upset loss to Northern Illinois at home in the second game of the season.

IU has as 5-23-1 record against Notre Dame. The last game was a victory for the Irish in 1991.
