Indiana University football coach Curt Cignetti isn’t concerned about harsh weather hurting the Hoosiers in Friday night’s game at Notre Dame.
The weather forecast for the first-round College Football Playoff game is a low of 21 degrees and up to an inch of snow.
“I hope it snows a foot and a half,” Cignetti said Wednesday. “We have a Canadian quarterback. Did you see him throw the ball against Purdue? I mean, this guy grew up in the frigid north.”
IU quarterback Kurtis Rourke, who’s from Oakville, Ontario, near Toronto, threw for 349 yards and six touchdowns last month in a 66-0 victory over Purdue.
Snow was falling and the temperature was 29 degrees.
Rourke, a senior, said it was the first time he had played with snow falling during the game.
“I thought Purdue was a really awesome environment, having the snow fall down in the stadium,” Rourke said. “That was pretty cool. Snow games are pretty fun itself. Looking forward to it if that's the case.”
The game is at 8 p.m. Friday at Notre Dame Stadium.
