Indy airport faces disruptions during snowstorm

There were few crowds at the airport over the weekend due to the snowstorm.

An Indianapolis airport official said services were fully operational and staffed over the weekend during nearly 8 inches of snow. But the airport did experience disruptions. 

Because of the weather, the Jacksonville Jaguars football team sat on a plane on the tarmac for seven hours after playing the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. The team finally took off at 1 a.m.

On Sunday, 29 percent of flights at IND were delayed and 23 percent were cancelled. On Monday, 33 percent of flights at IND were delayed and 25 percent were cancelled.  

The airport official said crowds were down because airlines are often able to reach passengers before they leave for a canceled flight.
