An 18-year-old Mooresville High School student is in custody after the FBI told local authorities she was potentially planning a school shooting on Friday.

According to a press release, the Mooresville Police Department received information from the FBI on Tuesday evening about a planned school shooting on Valentine’s Day at Mooresville High School.

During an investigation, authorities identified Mooresville student Trinity J. Shockley as a person of interest. After executing a search warrant at her home, Shockley was taken into custody.

Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office  on Thursday charged Shockley with conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of intimidation: threat to commit terrorism.

Shockley is being held in the Morgan County Jail without bond.

The Mooresville Police Department said that in September of 2022, Shockley was struck by a suspected drunk driver while crossing the street to her school bus, resulting in serious injuries, including a skull fracture.

“She returned to the Mooresville Police Department that fall to thank them for their efforts related to her accident, and the charges ultimately filed against the driver,” the department wrote on its Facebook page.
