Trump administration cuts Title X funding to Planned Parenthood

Reproductive health provider Planned Parenthood said in a press release on Tuesday the Trump administration has cut federal family planning funding for the organization.

In the release, Planned Parenthood said tens of millions of dollars of Title X funding is being withheld from affiliates nationwide, including 2 Indiana health centers in Hammond and Lafayette. The release said thousands of patients in Indiana rely on Planned Parenthood for sexual and reproductive health care.

Title X helps fund services such as birth control, cancer screenings, and STI testing and treatment. Planned Parenthood estimates more than 3,000 low-income Hoosiers will be directly affected by the lack of funding.

“These patients rely on Title X for their birth control and health care, and without this program, they may have no access at all,” said Rebecca Gibron, the CEO of Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky. “By withholding Title X funds, Trump and Musk’s federal government is denying health care and restricting patients’ freedom to control their bodies, their lives, and their futures.”

These latest cuts come as the U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear a case on April 2 that could determine whether states can block Medicaid patients from accessing Planned Parenthood centers.
