Human remains discovered in March have been identified as missing Bloomington man John Baker Jr.

The Monroe County Coroner’s Office confirmed his cause of death as suicide.

Baker was reported missing three years ago after being seen walking into the woods near where his body was later found.

According to the coroner’s office, a search for Baker the following day was unsuccessful because of the thickness of the woods.

Baker’s body was discovered by a work crew clearing land for a housing on Acuff Road.

Coroner Jeffrey Hall says his office suspected the remains were Baker’s when they were discovered and confirmed with dental records.
