Twelve additional charges have been filed against a former Martinsville teacher who already faces more than two dozen accusations involving minors.

Brittany Fortinberry now faces new charges including one count of incest, nine counts of child molestation, and two counts of performance before a minor that is harmful to minors.

Added to 29 charges that included child molestation, sexual misconduct with a minor and more, that brings the current total number of charges to 41.

Last month, a Morgan County judge raised the bond in Fortinberry’s case from $20,000 to $160,000.

Deputy prosecutor Michelle Armstrong said the bond increase was necessary because Fortinberry has allegedly made statements in jail about changing her name, running away to Georgia, and she now knows exactly which victims have spoken out.

A pre-trial conference is set for 2 p.m. Thursday Aug. 14.

A trial date has not yet been set.

Nicholas Fortinberry is set to go on trial Wednesday Jul. 9.
