A former school resource officer at Bloomington High School North was arrested Tuesday following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a teenage student last summer.
Jayson Tatlock is charged with child seduction, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, battery and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Tatlock worked at Bloomington North from July 2023 until June 2024 when allegations surfaced of sexual misconduct towards a 17-year-old student during an off-duty fishing trip. Tatlock was 45 at the time.
The student said in an interview with detectives that she spent time in Tatlock’s office during school, but the door was always open. She said he often brought snacks she liked, such as Starbucks drinks, to his office.
Tatlock and the student communicated via email starting in May 2024. Although Tatlock did not ask her to hide the emails, the student claims in the affidavit that they made him nervous.
On June 4, the day of the planned fishing trip, Tatlock allegedly picked the student up from the school parking lot after stopping at the Walmart in Spencer to buy alcohol. He then drove them to Cataract Lake in Owen County.
Police began investigating on June 18, 2024, after the student’s sister reported the incident. Tatlock resigned from Bloomington North the next day.
