Flood warnings in effect; Monroe Lake fireworks canceled

Radar precipitation image from NWS
Doppler radar and automated rain gauges estimates suggest between 3 and 8 inches of rain have fallen since Sunday.

More storms are predicted through tonight, some with damaging winds and flash flooding.

National Weather Service forecasters observed up to 8 inches of rain in the past 24 hours over parts of Monroe, Brown, and Lawrence counties.

A flood warning is in effect until 5 p.m. for slow-moving or standing water for these same areas. The DNR has canceled the July 4th fireworks at Fourwinds Resort on Monroe Lake.

Daviess and Knox counties are also under a flood warning until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Scattered storms are expected to return into the holiday weekend with temperatures reaching the upper 80s.
