Late Sarah, Early Fred: Sarah Vaughan and Fred Astaire

Sarah Vaughan and Fred Astaire were two icons of American popular culture in the 20th century—Vaughan a supremely gifted jazz singer and Astaire a dynamic dancer whose movies also featured songs, sung by Astaire, that helped build the Great American Songbook. Recently-released anthologies showcase Astaire in his early years, singing songs from his 1930s movies, and Vaughan in her later years, performing the songs of Duke Ellington.
