This week on Afterglow, we look again at recent releases in vocal jazz and traditional pop work from 2016 so far. We'll hear from the latest, highly-anticipated albums from jazz singers Gregory Porter, Esperanza Spalding, and Jane Monheit. We'll also hear new tracks from singer Norah Jones with saxophonist Charles Lloyd, and singer/violinst Petra Haden (daughter of jazz bassist Charlie Haden) alongside guitarist Bill Frissel. Plus, we'll also feature new interpretations of the Great American songbook by two legends of folk and country: Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson.
