Count Basie And The Singers: 1935-1965

For nearly 50 years, Count Basie led one of the swingin'-est big bands in the land, appearing on more than 480 recordings, according to the official Grammy Museum website. On this episode, we’re featuring just a few of the many, many singers who sang with The Count. We’ll focus in particular on the first 30 years of Basie’s band, around 1935 to 1965, hearing from such vocalists as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Williams, and more.
