Indiana Artisan Welcomes New Artisans Into The Fold

The nonprofit organization Indiana Artisan has accepted its largest group of new members to date.

The twenty-nine food and art businesses added to the statewide association will receive marketing and business support through Indiana Artisan workshops, trade shows, and a comprehensive website.

Director Eric Freeman says each one of the new artisan's work reflects Indiana. "We look hard at the arts link to the state and ask questions like, could it be made just as easily in Ohio, or any other state?" Freeman says.

Many of the artisans accepted this time around are wood-workers. Other new artisans include potters, wineries, jewelers, and for the first time, honey made it onto the list of Indiana Artisan foods.

The group now has more than 200 members in 57 counties around the state.
