Loren Schoenberg fell in love with jazz as a teenager in the 1970s and went on to become Benny Goodman's assistant, a bandleader in his own right, the author of numerous liner notes, and a jazz educator and historian of international renown. He also recently brought to light the so-called Savory collection, an archive of professionally-recorded broadcasts from the swing era. He is currently the artistic director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.
