Upcoming 'Live From Jacobs' Broadcasts To Include Phan Opera

After the great success of three live broadcasts in late summer and fall 2013, the Jacobs School of Music and WFIU partner again for a series of four not-to-be-missed concerts.

Saturday, February 15 at 8pm

P.Q. Phan's The Tale of Lady Thị Kính (world premiere production)

WFIU's first ever live broadcast from the IU Opera Theater

From alluring Vietnam, a young girl—pursued for her beauty, despised for her goodness, forced to masquerade as a man—takes us on an incredible journey of intrigue, lust, deceit, and compassion to the ultimate destination—Nirvana—by making the ultimate sacrifice. A world premiere by Jacobs School faculty composer P. Q. Phan based on the ancient Vietnamese folk tale Our Benevolent Buddha Thị Kính.

A recital of French song by Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, Francis Poulenc, and Maurice Ravel featuring internationally-acclaimed French baritone François Le Roux.
