A Place For Film - Discussing the Sight and Sound Poll

Episode 100 - Discussing the Sight and Sound Poll

On this week's episode we're celebrating our 100th episode and two year anniversary. It's been a long haul to get to this point, but we're thrilled to have made it. Thanks to those who have joined us for all 100, or even just a single episode.

We're inviting Professor James Naremore on the show to talk about his involvement in the Sight and Sound poll. This is a poll done every 10 years by Sight and Sound magazine, associated with the British Film Institute, and is world famous. They poll directors, critics, and academics to create a list of the greatest films of all time. Professor Naremore had a vote in this decades poll, and Jason and Andy create their own unofficial lists to share.

We start out with What have you seen lately, and Jason and Andy are discussing a newer Soderbergh film, while Professor Naremore is discussing a recent film from the Cinema.

We then discuss the Sight and Sound poll, and get to our lists. It's a double-length episode, so strap in and get ready to hear all of the films we selected, and which films were the last to get cut.
